Restoring period homes

Our remodeling and restoration work includes all project types, from whole house renovations to kitchens and baths, master suites, additions, and exteriors. Homeowners who want to retain the character of their old home are well-served by our firm’s knowledge of, and commitment to, period restorations. A number of our projects have won historic preservation awards.

How we work

Many homeowners want to employ a contractor who can integrate all the components of a renovation and manage the entire process from start to finish. Our design-build process does just that. A team of professionals carries your project from initial design through project development and construction. By bringing the crucial pieces of design, management, and construction together, we ensure that your project is developed to your budget, schedule, and with the attention to detail your home deserves.

Beginning the design-build process

Initial inquiries are responded to with a discussion to determine your project needs, timeframe, availability and budget. If it is mutually decided that our services and your intended project are a good fit, a site visit will be scheduled. During this initial site visit, we will walk through your home with you and review your ideas and project plans. To proceed with the project development phase, a second meeting will be scheduled with you at our office. At this meeting we will present a preliminary outline and budget for your intended project, and we will sign a Design and Assessment Contract that will begin the development stage.

The project development phase

During the project development phase you will work closely with our staff to develop your project. This may include meetings with an architect or design professional to create schematic drawings and, ultimately, construction documents. This series of meetings with our staff will determine what scope of work fits your budget and renovation goals. Once project development is complete, a Construction Contract is signed and a Project Manager is assigned to your job.

The construction phase

The construction phase begins with a pre-construction meeting to go over the particulars of your project. The Project Manager becomes your main contact for the work being done on your house. He/She will be your personal project advocate and will be on-site each day to see that quality work is proceeding according to the agreed upon plan and schedule. Each Project Manager is a highly skilled carpenter with years of experience in both the trades and project supervision.
